Framed Original Chinese Calligraphy by Master Cheng Man-Ch'ing
Original Calligraphy created by Taiwanese Professor and Tai-Chi Master Cheng Man-Ch'ing in 1970 as a gift to my father, who was Chief of Station in Taipei, Taiwan.
Professor Cheng was known as the Master of Five Excellences: Chinese medicine, poetry, painting, calligraphy and Tai Chi Chuan. Two of Master Cheng's artist seals are on this Calligraphy: his Man Jan or Beautiful Whiskers seal depicting his long sideburns (upper seal) and a pictorial seal characterizing the artist with his birth year (the cat) and the crazy tiger head (lower seal). HIs signature appears next to the two seals.
Two different translations of this Calligraphy are affixed to the back of the artwork. The first translation is by Master Cheng. The second is by one of his students. The Calligraphy is in the original frame with beautiful brass hangars and a silk matte.
Measures 18"H x 37"W x .5"D and Weighs 6 lbs
The lacquer frame has a bit of wear but otherwise the artwork is in excellent condition.
